Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Salomon Ivy - is this a beginners board?

If not, can you recommend a beginners board please Smile

Ivy is more intermediate/good.
I missed out the nitro mystique, which is about the only real womens beginner board I have any contact with. Comes in under the nitro fate which my other half wasnt impressed with but I suspect she was above the level of board.

From what I read about the Ivy on the Salomon website I didn't think it was a beginners board.

My daughter needs a board for our trip to Banff (her first boarding holiday) - think I will have a mooch on ebay for a second hand one - it will be cheaper than renting one!

Dobz, how about a burton feather? I know its burton and not that good a board to be honest once progressed but its aimed at a budget beginner with lots of colors Smile

Dobz, I echo Stab. Ihad the Feather for 2 weeks, loved it. Unfortunately I improved too much and had to trade it in for the next season. But I had got it end of season so got quite a bargain and they got a decent trade for it so I wasnt too out of pocket.

stab, go on what are they then, I think the Dream Raider looks ace, wanted to try one couldn't find it anywhere. How the snow over there, hope you've got it like we have. btw you were right: my standard of what's a good boarder has gone up exponentially!

Swirly, hehe, yeah living in a resort your level of what good is becomes much higher. We have a fair bit of snow but the sodding wind doesnt leave so its all blowing away Sad
The dream raider is a speed machine, forget jibbing on it, just flat out carving and tearing around. It's tapered towards the tail for the powder. I seem to remember the swiss team used it for the boarder cross in the olympics. Real good board but too specific in its function for me. A lot of old skool race board/hard boots people like it, even if they do try and mount it +57 +45 Puzzled

The salomon answer looks interesting, I might take it out next week. It has a bamboo top sheet, supposed to be eco friendly. The good thing about it is it's a directional twin but with an extra set of holes for the front binding to make it a true twin if you want to ride like that. Feels nice and flexy with pop. The custom is obviously the long standing standard do everything board but I think maybe the atomic alibi could give it a run for its money. I'll try and get as many tested as I can in the next couple of weeks.
The one I really want to try is the salomon tracker, the sidecut is 3 straight lines and not a curve like most boards.
As for boards not in the shop I have no idea, sadly our range doesnt match the skis in terms of stock Sad

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

I really like the axum, so poppy and flexy but it remains stable at warp speed. I dont buy into the whole double edge thing but it's a board I would consider buying, if I was allowed to buy a new board, which I'm not Sad
Dont know about the banana sorry.

Stab,

The Custom, Concept and Anthem all seem to fall in roughly the same category. Which of these do you prefer?

I've only tried the custom, never tried the others.
Tomorrow (depending on my ribs) I'll be testing the custom with EST cartels, salomon answer with raiden bindings and assuming I can still breath after that and I didnt puncture my lung maybe I'll get the salomon tracker out.

Funny you say that, I kept the custom ICS all day today and my back foot had moved from -15 to almost zero and moved back. I took some sloppy landings on backside 180s today and my cap strap on the cartel came off, which has never happened on my customs. The amazing thing though with the EST foot beds is they dont freeze up. Smile

Swirly, hehe, yeah they love it like that. I just saw in the shop an alpine stance on a custom Confused
Their edge to edge must be a nightmare like that, just standing on the floor in an alpine stance and trying to rock from heel edge to toe edge is hard enough.
