Sooo.. wonderful snow heads. Would appreciate your advice/views.
My DH and I last year managed to get away for a short ski trip. It was to chamonix in December. Flew in on 20th MAN-GVA, easy transfer to chamonix, skied 21/22/23 flew home on a late flight 23rd December.
Now appreciate this is easy to do as a short transfer time to resort etc. so I’m probably looking for something without a 2.5/3hr transfer here.
I’d like to do a similar thing this year. To somewhere I haven’t been ideally. Though would revisit potentially some places.
I have skied PdS, Grand massif, paradiski, L2A, via lattea, la thuile/la rosiere, courmayeur, will be doing 3V at Xmas so not there either (though that’s too long a transfer probably).
Dolomites are on my bucket list. But is a short trip going to be difficult there? I’m a northern monkey so limited with flight options. (North Yorkshire - Manchester isn’t ideal but doable)
Is there anywhere you can suggest, you’ll notice Swiss/austrian resorts missing - never been, open to trying!

Will add, preferably with some transfer option that isn’t a rental car as I had a really bad experience in Majorca this year and it’s really put me off hiring a car.

In terms of transfers, Seefeld in Austria has to be one of the quickest I'd imagine, about 30 mins in a taxi or 50 mins by train (from Innsbruck airport), ideal for a long weekend trip!

Pretty much pointless people recommending places when travel is likely the main constraint.
Work out where you can fly to from airports you're prepared to use and even times of flights if you want a half day on arrival or departure. Then resorts become obvious.
You get a lot more flexibility if you are prepared to rent a car.

I can fly from Manchester. Which has plenty options as far as I can see. Gva is the most flexible with the numbers of flights but anywhere is likely possible Dave I’d imagine.

@vjmehra, Manchester-Innsbrück flights for a weekend?
@v1cky24, Monterosa's pretty easy from Turin or Milan but you would probably want to hire a car. Spanish car hire does not necessarily reflect the rest of the world!!

@under a new name, Easyjet seem to fly from Manchester to Innsbruck, so should be doable (or midweek if easier).

Sorry I didn’t read airport haha.
I need to get over the rage that’s still bubbling when I think about it. It’s not the first time it has happened either . But yes always Spain!

Actually another left field option could be Levi, Manchester to Kittila and then about a 20 minute taxi transfer!

Verbier. Easy to get to from GVA.

@v1cky24, given how well Geneva works from Manchester (we use that airport too) just look at resorts easily accessible from GVA. You've been to both PdS and Grand Massif, but might enjoy a few days based at a different access point. Evasion Mont Blanc (St Gervais/Megeve) is similarly easy. Or head through Switzerland, to the Swiss access points for PdS or a smaller resort like Villars, or as far as Verbier.
There are others, but I think places like La Clusaz, Grand Bornand and Espace Diamant haven't got convenient transfer options other than a hire car.

You know it makes sense.

I'm not familiar with Swiss resorts but some are easily reached by train from Gva, aren't they? Should be ideal.

Zürich is a better airport than Geneva and lots of places in easy reach (though probably more expensive than the French places). In western Austria both Arlberg and Montafon very easy to get to and ideal for a short trip. In Switzerland Lenzerheid /Arosa, Klosters / Davos, Flims & Andermatt (other places too) all easy from Zürich. Sadly Südtirol / Dolomites not so easy though in theory via Innsbruck should work but the Brenner Pass seems likely to be disrupted this season which might make travel a pain

@v1cky24, One option is to fly late to Zurich and get a cheap hotel near the main station. You could then get the 06:40 train to St Anton which arrives at 9ish. Coming back you could do something similar and ski the last day then get a late train to Zurich and stay in a cheap hotel for a return flight in the morning.
The bonus of this is you can get something fairly cheap for the Zurich accommodation but maximise your skiing.
Would work just as well with Innsbruck substituted at either end depending on what is convenient.

@v1cky24, When you thinking of? To my (pleasant surprise, as it's nice to see the network expanding) EasyJ do fly MAN-INN but only twice a week.

On google flights, you can do a multi city start and end.
This enables you to search from e.g. Manchester/Liverpool/Leeds/Newcastle to Innsbruck/Geneva/Turin/Venice/Munich and specify that you want direct flights departing after a certain time (say 5pm, so you can get a days work done and also a days skiing on the last day)
Once you've found flights that work on your dates, the rest is much easier, just go here: https://uk.j2ski.com/ski_resorts/Airports/ and sort by transfer time from your preferred airport. Until then these questions tend to turn into a relatively random list of resorts within 2hrs of an airport somewhere in Europe.

Manchester to Innsbruck would be doable, Wednesday 18th - 22nd Dec. Gets in to Innsbruck at 10.50 so you can be skiing by lunch time. Currently £114.
From Innsbruck airport you can be at a number of small places within around 30 mins, or if you want to travel a bit further for bigger ski areas, within an hour or so you could either go west to St Anton, or east to the Zillertal.
Within around 30mins of the airport though, you could be in Nordkette, Patscherkofl, Axamer Lizum, Seefeld, Oberperfuss - Rangger Köpfl and Glungezer. Slightly further and you can be in Kühtai and BergerAlm.
That'll get you 3.5 days of skiing, and you're back on Sunday afternoon.

If you base yourselves in Innsbruck you could get a City + Ski pass and try out a few resorts (I don't know if they are doing 3 or 4 day passes though). You could go to Nordkette or Patscherkofl on the end days to maximise your skiing because they are super close to Innsbruck and go a bit further on the middle day(s).
If you did go to Innsbruck you'd also have the option of the Stubai Glacier fairly close by which would improve the chances of good snow.
I did something similar in January 24 for a week and it worked out ok.

If looking at Innsbruck, Obergurgl/Hochgurgl is a short transfer in my opinion. Shopping around, in our experience decent there are value taxis by Alpine standards. Guaranteed snow at that time imho. Not all hotels insist on 7 nights.

Thank you so much lovely people!
This is exactly what I was hoping for.
I’m thinking mid march for this trip. We are in 3V 21st December this year.
It was a last minute booking thing as it looked like the conditions were reasonable. I was hoping to get flights sorted and work the rest out over coming months soonish.

@v1cky24, 19-23rd March same flight times etc flights are £119.
Rest of the comments stay the same

Not sure this works for a short skiing trips but we have had friends fly from both Teeside and Doncaster(?) via Schiphol with KLM. It has worked fine though Schiphol is a rather painful place (too big). It saved the journey to Manchester & back

There's always the Ethiopian air option MAN-GVA which IIRC has convenient flight times.
