Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hello everyone

I'm planning to go over to Mayrhofen to on the 27th december and stay till 31st december to meet my bro down there. I know its pretty busy at that time, but what do you think the chance is of me finding a room if I just turn up ? or if you have any suggestions ? cheap would be good.

luke.williams42, Welcome to SnowHeads snowHead I don't deal with Austria, but if France is anything to go by, I think turning up with nowhere to stay, would be rather silly Very Happy I have been booking New Year since May, and still get 10 enquiries a day for that week.

luke.williams42, to some extent, I would echo Anniepen, it is the busiest week, and even for our little apartment in Zell I am getting about 3 or 4 enquiries a day for that week, so I would suggest getting something fixed up beforehand.

I don't mean you have no chance at all, but just showing up on December 27th might not make for a very happy new year.

If you make some enquiries now, there are plenty of cheap B&Bs in Mayrhofen, some of them nicer than others, but mostly perfectly adequate and plenty that are good for budget travellers. You could try enquiring at tiscover.at .

I use bergfex. It has all sort of accommodations to suit every pocket. You book it online and arrange to get there yourself. Been using it for years. Excellent and reliable information. Never been let down.
