Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Rossignol Salto X

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Looking arouf for a possible new boot purchase, and have been offered a good price £120 on these and also the Rossignol Exalt X 12

Unfortunately this would mean a mail order purchase !!

So a couple of questions

1) Are these any good ( have been sking about 8 weeks ) or are they too advanced - i am ok on red runs , just progressing
to black / off piste.

2) Is it really cheeky to buy the boots mail order then go to a local ski shop and get them fitted ( obviously paying )

3) Anyone know of a good boot fitter that would fit them if bought mail order in the hertford / harlow area.

Currently have a pair of 4 year old Salomon evolution 8's - am i wasting my time replacing them - should i instead go for
new linings an keep them

also does anyone know if Rosignol come up small / large for the size.

I appreciate all the comments made on other thread about boot fitting - and will not be buying a pair of boots i cannot
get fitted to me.

I'm suprised you have not already been lambasted by an army of bootfitters. The boot has to be suitable for your foot shape, they suit me as I have a narrow heel and medium width foot. My heel slops around in most boots but these grip my heel nicely, they are very comfortable & easy to walk in, they have a low flex index, 50 I think, i.e very flexible front to back but I seem to get decent edge control and directional stabilty. I switch to stiffer boots if want ski aggressively. But in short you need to see if the shell matches your foot shape.

cheers - using this last reply as a quide ( as I wanted a slightly stiffer boot) I have just bought from bartlets a nice pair of
atomics btech 90's - which are similar to the saltos but a lot stiffer
