skola, it's a crevasse. when snow falls, it forms a natural bridge over said crevasse. You can normally be ok skiing over the bridge, but sometimes they let go. they'll also let go when someone falls on it (as happened here) and if you walk on it, due to your weight not being spread out across the length of skis or board.
scary scary things.
this video appeared last season and backs me up in my fear of skiing on glaciers...

maybe, thats scary stuff, at first i thought it was really funny cos i thought he had gone down a badger hole or something cos of the angle of the camera but ... yikes thank god it wasnt me!
