I get the impression that US and Canadian resorts focus on adding the depths of each snowfall during the winter, but European resorts measure the snow lying on the ground at any time.
I'd be surprised if Fernie gets to an average of 27ft snow thickness on the ground, but maybe someone knows the facts on this?
St Anton seems to regularly hit 4 or 5 metres lying snow on the Valluga, but I'm not aware that there's much glaciation up there. Anybody know?

Yes I was perhaps a bit hasty there David, I assumed that was a cumulative figure. However, according to someone who should know in a good year Fernie can get 5 metres of lying snow on the tops.

As far as I'm aware St Anton isn't a glacier but I have seen snow on the peaks in summer around Innsbruck.

Heavenly has had 5 feet in the last 48 hours. As this happens there regularly...

DB. Could you pop up the Valluga this summer and have a look for us? They might even run the cablecar for you. Otherwise you'll just have to hike it.
