Hi all,
I'm busy trying to organise things for 9 people for skiing in Les Carroz. The company we are renting the apartment from, have come back with various options for lessons. The two ski schools who I've been offered lessons with are ESF and Nouvelle Dimension. I was wondering if anyone had any advice/experience of either of these two schools in Les Carroz? For info it's for 5 people who are complete beginners.

This might sound stupid but in resort some owner/operators use ESF and others use Nouvelle Dimension.
We've not yet signed up with either yet (it's one of the things on the things to do list for this/next week)
We've been chatting to the locals and the oppinion is that there's not really that much difference between them.
In Les carroz ESF have more instructors, they both charge about the same, language skills are about the same...they are pretty much the same - or at least noone we've spoken to has given me any vast differences.
That said, I have met a few ESF instructors as they appear to be more locals than Nouvelle Dimension and they seem like nice people to have a beer with and we've had some interesting pub discussions (them in English me in French)..

We have used Nouvelle Dimension on two occassions for our children. They generally had smaller class sizes than ESF for the children and spoke (adequate) english (although our youngest insisted he was french for the week and only answered 'Oui'  ). For children I would recommend them over the ESF however I dont have any experience with the adults class.
I can recommend a good independent private instructor though if you want one.

Have used both, ND for my daughter which has always been OK, on the last time last xmas, instructor spoke good english, small class (9) instructor was very very hung over one day however............................ she did learn quite a lot and seemed to enjoy it.
I had ESF group lessons for a week at same time, (daughter insisted if she did lessons so should i!) group of 2!, instructor was excellent, but spoke little english, but my french gets by so it was fine. Took us to all sorts of off piste which i had not seen before, plus loads of wild life spotting. Last day was one to one....best esf i have ever had.

If the 5 chaps are complete beginners I would have thought any instructor would do. You just need someone patient and that's down to the individual instructor, not the school. ESF is usually a safe bet.
