Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Since a slight mishap some may be aware of, I have been exercising right arm to mouth carrying liquid filled glass.
If I carry on this way Belly is gonna get me!
Does anyone know of exercise I can do which will not have detrimental effect on neck injury?

JulesB, Turbo Trainer or set of Rollers, put a slick on the rear of the Mtb, position in front of Tv. Happy pedalling

JulesB, any static bike work would be fine. If you have a gym membership, eliptical cross-trainer (legs only) and stepper would also probably not upset your neck

JulesB, glad you're up and posting Very Happy ! Are you having physio of any kind? If so, the therapist should be able to advise on suitable exercises. Some Pilates exercises might be suitable e.g. various of the leg lifts which work the abs as well as the legs, but do take medical advice first.

JulesB, so don't bend, sit up in the saddle* and push forward from the hips across the top of the stroke and pull back on the bottom like wiping gum off the shoe. A nice sweaty high blood flow 30 mins a day may even help other bits heal faster?

*Yes, that will put more pressure on the nether regions at first, but the way to take pressure off those even without injury is by putting power into the pedals not by resting the upper body on the bars. Without bars you probably won't get much hamstring pulling power, but that's OK too, there are no climbs on a trainer.

JulesB,try this. As right arm with liquid filled glass nears mouth, snap shut jaw and clench teeth (having first retracted tongue). Hold this position until said arm and liquid filled glass, fall away from mouth. Repeat indefinitely.

chris, now you're just being silly!
vetski, waiting to hear from neuro-surgery, who hopefully will then point me to physio. Just wondered if I could do something in mean time. Pilates might be ok or yoga? but at the moment it's the medical advice bit that I'm lacking!
comprex, was thinking of reclining cycle machine in gym, but don't know if they will let me, or if it's wise at this stage.

JulesB, if you've got a gym reclining bike, that should be fine (but don't use the handles at the side to stabilise yourself, just your body weight)

Honestly wouldn't know where to start suggesting rehab after a neck injury. Specialist physio advice is probably best.

JulesB, perhaps find out if there's a good Pilates place near you which specialises in injury rehab - rehab Pilates is often taught by physiotherapists who have cross-trained as Pilates instructors. Also...look into low-calorie booze! Laughing
