Hi,
Is it possible to mix different manufacturers skis, bindings and riser plate?
I would assume attaching different bindings to skis is straight forward as there are many examples of skis and binding from different manufacturers. However, I am not sure about mixing riser plate and bindings from different manufacturers.
As I am looking to by a pair of volkl skis that don't come with a riser plate and a pair of salomon S914 bindings, but am not sure what riser plate would be suitable?
I guess the salomon riser plate would be ideal for the bindings but can I use another manufacturers riser plate?

davidb the short answer is yes, with some caution and forethought as to the final effect of the plate. Take a look at the Vist line. 'Ideal for the bindings' is less of a concern than 'ideal for you on that ski'.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

davidb,
Must admit I would never feel comfortable about doing this.....
So although it may be possible, I wouldn't...

Hi David,
Which Volkl, and why do you want risers on them?
(these may sound like obvious/irrelevant questions, but they may help determine David's actual requirements)

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Volkl F10 fun carver titanium (140) and I was thinking of a Marker riser plate with salomon s914 bindings.
I want to use them for doing short radius turns maximising my carving (fun skiing).
I've got a pair of Atomic skis for standard skiing.

JT, even if it was built for the purpose, like the Vist Carv 3,5?

davidb, you'd be better to use a Salomon riser plate - the plate just screws into the ski, but the bindings have to fit the plate in the right way.
I hope you've got a good price on the skis - they are from 1999.

comprex,
I could see that being of use but I like things like that to be uncomplicated and easily fixable.
Its bad enough tryng to get the right basket in shops in a resort let along anything a bit more specialised.
I don't use them but that looks like a useful piece of kit as long as you don't have to redrill the skis
