Lechbob, Not tried that method before, but my mum always used to rub swarfega into my clothes to any remove oil ( was always plenty) when I was a kid, then wash as normal, which worked every time.

Agree with jase2472. Washing up liquid should get it out. Don't skimp.

Assuming that it will take a certain degree of heat, put iron to the hottest the garment will poke up with, position garment on ironing board and sprinkle with talcum powder, cover this with a sheet of kitchen roll and iron the thing like crazy. You have to really shake the excess powder off afterwards, but it will really start to shift oily residues in most things.

Kaiser, Do not iron clothes whilst wearing them!!!
|
|
|
|
|
You know it makes sense.
|
Kaiser, Scarpa, Just remember it may be counter-productive to use the same iron you use for waxing your skis or boards. A household laundry iron kept for the laundry only is what I have in mind

Megamum, Scarpa,
As per my earlier comment regarding better signalling of clothes usage instructions I think you could have made those comments before, which could have avoided a potentially even more embarrassing thread:
"How best to ease serious burns to the torso and simultaneously rid wax from top?"

If you had not washed it then a eucalyptus based stain remover - or eucalyptus and then soap to wash

Stain Devils - for oil. Something with orange peel oil in it - great solvent.

Kaiser, KH-7 Grease Remover worked for me, spray on stain, then leave for a couple of mins, then before dry straight into the washing machine and wash as normal. I tried Cillit Bang first but it failed miserably.

Rub plenty of Talcum Powder into the stain as soon as possible.
Rub off all talc with T-towel.
Repeat until stain gone.
Wash as normal.

Dypcdiver, Is KH a brand?
Freestyle, sadly the problem is less of a stain and more of a lingering smell and strange feel to the wool. The garment has been washed at least - times now so I don't think the talcum powder idea will still work.

Given that its ruined already as a last ditch attempt you could try some petrol then air it on a washing line and wash it separately to try and lose the smell

To be honest I prefer the slow and tedious washing upi liquid approach, it does seem to be working, albeit slowly.

Kaiser, Many apologies, I thought it was an international product, however I checked their web site and find that they are a Spanish company and only sell in Spain, France and Portugal. Marketing opportunity for an enterprising Brit!!

As I am in France, perhaps you could tell me what kind of shop I might find it in?
Thanks
