Good resort for all. Young and old. Rich or poor. Weak or strong riders.
Do it.

jdodd86, all things being equal, snow should be excellent, apres pretty unremarkable, village like moonbase alpha.

jdodd86, Val Thorens is a lovely place in good weather.
it is big. Lots of blues and easy reds. Queues are few. Lots of decent restuarants both in town and up the mountain.
But, when the weather cloees in and visibility reduces, the lack of trees or any clear landmarks can make skiing quite unpleasant.

well going at the end of march the weather should (fingers crossed) be ok!

jdodd86, Many snowheads go to VT its a venue for one of the big ski trips that are organised during the year. It can't be that bad

Sorry Jdodd but there's been quite a few 'tell me all about xx/yy resort' threads on here of late and it can get quite repetitive, especially when the OP doesn't really say much about group size or experience or familiarity with the area. Basic factual information is easier to obtain from the likes of http://www.ifyouski.com/resorts/ and http://www.wtss.co.uk/index.jsp - even basic bar information isn't hard to find
plus as it's a venue on here that most people have been to a lot before - then a search would generate lots of rewarding info (and admittedly a whole lot of rubbish)
If you're so inclined then I'll point you in the direction of this thread which will provide you with more information than you could possibly need on VT.
As to 'what's the snow like then' questions - depends on whether it's snowed recently or not and resorts can vary dramatically from year to yearr - e.g. mid dec last year in say Courc1650 fine, mid-dec the year before unskiable...

shoogly, nice photo, that's from the Cime de Caron, isn't it? You can see so many peaks in a 360 from there. That's Mont Blanc in the background as well, isn't it?
jdodd86, scenery at VT is spectacular high alpine if you get good weather, but no trees to hide in if it's snowing. It's arguably prettier (ie forested slopes lower down with snowy, craggy peaks above) in the other 2 valleys. I preferred Courchevel, snow seemed better, less windblown, when I was there. But then everywhere is only a few lifts away.
Most of the "village" is ugly and a bit tired, but it's all pretty much ski-in, ski-out, there's a piste and drag lift right in the middle.
