Hi chewy192, . I am of similar experience and took my GF for first time in jan.
If just the two of you going, it will be difficult to ski together and frustrating if you want to hammer it about. We agreed that we would generally meet for a spot of lunch when practical, and that i would spend 30-60 mins skiing with her a day to help her anong and that worked really well.
Def ski school for her as she will hopefully meet others to ski with outside school and of similar standard. good way to make buddies for drinking in the evenings.
as for you, 1-1 would be good, but i prefer to hook up with a guide and small group for the same reasons to meet others of similar standard.
Depends what you want.
My GF loved it so much she also came away in march the same year and is getting on well. we have three trips booked for 2009.

chewy192, welcome to snowheads ,
I reckon it's more fun to learn in a group as a complete beginner: laugh at each others mistakes, don't feel as if you're the only one not getting it, give yourself a breather while someone else has a go.
One-to-one is better when you want to concentrate on improving technique later, like you want to do.

Welcome chewy192. Colin B, has it spot on. Her website is www.easiski.com. She'll sort you out - and your girlfriend will get the best possible start to her skiing career. I've had about 10 lessons with her over the past couple of years and the difference she's made is VERY noticeable both technically and in confidence. She's direct, sympathetic and inspires trust, the latter I think very important for those first slides. I'm the worlds biggest wimp on skis and while I've frequently felt challenged have to date never felt scared under her tuition.
She's a very nice lady too!

You know it makes sense.

she sounds like the right person to book with for my g/f as she is a bit nervous about the whole thing and has a bit of a fear of heights etc.. but she is willing to give it a go so someone with a bit of patience sounds perfect
