Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

K2--5500 escape

I am a 6 foot 4 inch 205 lb intermediate (eastern US)--I have skied off and on for years, but am back in it to get the kids started at a younger age than when I started (@22)--I got some new skis last year--without a demo--unfortunately--I purchased the K2 5500 esacpe and gave up Elan monoblok SCX. What I find is the K2's like to cruise--but I find them tougher to turn quickly--The elans were easier to turn but 'wigggly' cruising. I will keep the K2 for groomed good conditions--but would like to know what ski I should demo for quicker turning--Thanks, Brian

Keroab, welcome to snowheads, my son was an instructor at Sunday River, I don't think he ever got over the cold. I'm sure SSH and Comprex will be posting on ski types, I'm a bit more reactionary if it's not made by Dynastar I don't want it.

keroab, any chance you can speak to the folks at Ski Depot in Jay? I don't think they carry Dynastar, but they do carry 3 of the other brands I would look to try (Head, Elan, Fischer). They also have TheClaw for those fine warm days at Sugarloaf. Twisted Evil
