Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Public Service - EHIC Card

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Friend of a colleague was out in Spain a few weekends ago, had a bizarre accident and snapped his knee ligament, he had no holiday insurance and did not have his European Health Insurance Card either, private hospital took him in for the night but wouldn't operate, charged him 1200 euros. Local hospital would not operate, airlines refused to fly him home, he ended up coming back in a meat delivery wagon, it took 3 days!

So, anyone going to Europe this year please, PLEASE go here:

EHIC Application page

I registered for all parties going on our trip in one go, all I needed was NI numbers, all of the cards arrived, even though some of us had EHIC's already they just issued duplicates AT NO CHARGE.

Standee, a salutory lesson, but even more important - get insurance!

Absolutely, no insurance is just a risk not worth taking.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Blimey, nasty story Sad

Sound advice there, EHIC and insurance is the best way, all bases covered then.

In my dealings with the department that do the cards I've found them to be really helpful and really fast... so obviously nobody from the Inland revenue gets redeployed there Twisted Evil
