Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I am off to Valloire for New Year and have just spotted this on the website http://www.valloire.net/uk/hiver/detail_agenda_hiver_uk.aspx?Id=85#a

188 euro for a season pass, if bought before 31 october, unbelievable.

Kel, and, err , hardly the most extensive ski area in the world? Last year, Chamonix, including Les Houches and Courmayeur, for the annual pass including also Aig du Midi and Aig des Montets was a mere €530.

Which is nearly 3 times as much as 188 euro Puzzled .

I know it is not a massive area, which is partly why I am avoiding such areas at New year, want something different to the larger areas for a change. Chamonix !! Trust me that would not suit my Wife, I know I've been there and wasn't that keen myself, more suited to the purist.

The point I am making is this is, it very very cheap and I guess that the fact that it is only available for a 2 week window, well before the season starts would suggest that it is aimed at the locals and the company that operates the lift's have to be commended for that.

I don't imagine ( in-fact I know ) that the locals of Blairgowrie can ski Glen-shee all season long for £140.

Well spotted, but I guess it's the website maintenance chap ( or whatever they call them in France ) who has got his dates mixed up. If you click to download the flyer the date is from 15/12/08.

I will be buying one as I am going for 8 days and it will give me a good excuse for a long weekend later in the year wink .

Got to say its a good idea. I think a lot of Euro resorts could drum up business with 12-14 day season passes for not much more than a std week. Your tourists give you cashflow upfront preseason and are incentivised to come back for a couple of weekends or another week later in the season. May not be for the Verbiers and Chamonixii of this world but could work for others.

fatbob, I think many resorts have season lift passes which can be bought in advance for about the price of 14 days full pass.

I'm thinking more of a buy 7 get 7 free deal - if I'm paying 14 day's prices I'm more likely to go a different place for a subsequent trip. Plenty of US resorts in competive market areas sell very cheap season passes on the basis it will boost visits by casual skiers & they get big cashflow pre season.
