Poster: A snowHead
|
Have found a really decent deal to this place early January 2009 but not heard anyone mention it before. It's fairly small but for an early season cheapie, i quite fancy it.
Any feedback on this would be helpful.
Thanks

Libertine,
I did see a review ( cant recall where) on 'superdevoluy ' somewhere & the feedback was , " a godforsaken bleak place" which has rather put me off a deal or two I saw also.

Libertine,
I have been there a few times, what info are you after? For a cheap week it is probably worth it. Not much for experts, fine for intermedates, plenty for beginners and kids. We normally go to the Loup side. The lifts coped well with half term crowds, and no problems in January. The snowmaking on the Loup side is on the steepest side of the slope, so the nervous usually walked down.

Libertine, I think it's Crystal that has been covering this resort for a few years and looking at the piste map, it's a failry extensive area. Isn't it near Isola 2000 in the Southern Alps?

Libertine, we go each year as my sister has a place in La Joue du Loup. La Joue du Loup is prettier than SuperD as although purpose built, has been done so in more traditional style. Very French (we get private lessons for the children as all the group classes seem to be taught in French), quite a few Dutch visitors, outside of French school holidays you can often be the only people in sight on a run once you get away from the main blue runs. Can be bleak above the treeline (but can't anywhere), but some nice runs down through the trees. Not sure about what nightlife there is - I would guess SuperD would be better than La Joue for that. PM me if you want more info.

gamekeeper, Specialman, PaulS, thanks for your responses.
Yeah, the main priority is CHAEP !! Have also worked out that La Joue appears the nicer side. have pretty much decided to do it, but a few reviews mention dogs... and their mess !!! sounds awful. Any more feedback on that
Specialman, not sure how near it is to Isola, cant see on the map i have.

Seems to be south of grenoble!
"The ski resort of Dévoluy is located on the border of the Isere and Hautes-Alpes regions, between Grenoble and Gap. Dévoluy offers extensive skiing for all abiities with free passes for under fives and over 70 year olds. There are 60 trails within 100 kms of piste and 27 lifts service the slopes at Dévoluy" You can find some info on snow-forcast and a map of where it is.
