Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Argentiere / Cham Easter 2009

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Easter is 12 April next year. Any point going to Argentier / Cham ? If not, any recommendations ? I'm going to be picky here and state that I don't like skiing slush in the afternoon. If I can't ski in half-decent snow up to 2:00pm I'd rather not waste the money.

I know it's impossible to predict late season conditions but I'm looking for consistent reports (i.e. year after year)from resorts in April where it's been OK. I've skied VdI in April and it was fab and also Sestrieie although it was pretty wet by 3:00 but then I've spoken to people who've done similar and had a torrid time. I suppose best is to just leave it late.

Any info welcome

Cheers in advance

dsoutar, Impossible to predict. I've had fantastic skiing in Avoriaz (!) in late April (28th or something). If you can't get good skiing on the Grands Montets for Easter I'll be amazed if you can get it anywhere.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Hmm buy/rent fatter skis then laugh at the wusses knocking off early?

I've been skiing at GMs both Easter 07 and May day weekend 08 in similar conditions. Can be (brutally) hard in the early am, softening up later then glorious slush later in the afternoon. Pierre a Ric technically skiable both times (though questionable as to whether you'd want to). Overall I'd say great and Flegere probably still open if you want softer earlier. As DM says though impossible to call - could be all day powder, a cold snap or above 0c overnight.
