What's involved in getting qualified for ski patrol jobs?
I hear most volunteer first.
Could be a good seasonal job if I can get into contracting other stuff in the UK.

The USA have volunteer ski parols but I don't think there is anything similar in Europe. (Anybody know?)

Talking to a young Scottish woman in St Gervais a couple of years ago, it was more difficult than for teaching. Emphasis on being a strong skier rather than technical.

GordonFreeman, for NZ ski patrol you need to be an expert skier with very good first aid and back country quals. Even as a volunteer. Maybe you should look at doing a course in NZ. http://www.mecnz.ac.nz/mecnz/

I went to an Avalanche awareness talk given by the Piste Patrol in Les Deux Alpes last Winter. As it was the English version it was given by an Aussie (the chief bomber there I think) and a Geordie named Neil. I must admit i was very impressed by their knowledge and experience. That level would (as well as the undoubted need for skiing skills) take some gaining.

I did a season out in NZ and spent lots of time with the guys doing this course. It sounded tough, but they got to make their own explosives. You can't argue with that.

Yeah but you have to be NZSIA Level 5 first - I assume from what I've read that that is instructor level.
No chance...keep on dreaming I guess
