LAST EDITED 14th Feb 2009 earlier irrelevant info has been deleted.
This trip is for those who want to improve confidence levels and have a fun time improving their skiing. It will be of interest to those who want lessons at a steadier pace in small groups, because they are older, have fears to address, are returning to skiing after injury etc. Video correction will be available. All groups will be max 4 people and will have lift priority.
Week 1 : 7th to 14th March
Level 0 = complete beginners FULLY BOOKED
Level 1 = 1-2 weeks skiing: happy on green, not quite so keen on blue runs FULLY BOOKED
Level 2/3 = happy on blues and able to ski reds, but lose ‘form’ when it gets steeper FULLY BOOKED
Week 2 : 14th to 21st March
Level 1 = 1-2 weeks skiing: happy on green, not quite so keen on blue runs 2 places left
Level 2 = 2-3 weeks skiing: getting happier on blue runs and thinking about the steeper blues or maybe a gentle red 2 places left
Level 3 = 4-6 weeks skiing: comfortable on all blues and OK on normal reds, not too happy on steep reds, narrow slopes, ice or black runs FULLY BOOKED
Price €500 per person per week includes:
Centrally based accommodation (either B&B or S/C depending on availability)
Individuals need to book their own travel. www.bensbus.co.uk is recommended for transfers from Grenoble airport (£42.50 return at present).
When you have booked you will be invited to reserve equipment through the www.easiski.com website, which will be at a discounted price from a good supplier in the resort.
TO BOOK
Please PM Butterfly or Easiski.

Lizzard, why not indeed, but that title does rather sound like a week on the bingo at Mrs Browns' boarding house in Blackpool .

I could well be interested, but I'm not an old trout!
Late January would probably work best. Hotel or s/c - both the same to me. S/C might be jollier.

noggy, In the skiing you mean? The old trouts are on snowboards! You would be more advanced than Butterfly, but not as advanced as clare mcbride,. There may be several of your level by the sound of it.

Hmm, if this ends up being in the first week of March, I may ask mrs horizon if she wants to join you while I'm off skiing offpiste in the Dolomites.
(easiski, compared to the terrified beginner you saw a few years ago, she can now ski her way down a difficult blue).
Or if it's another date, I could join her and ski with my son...hmm, that may work even better. I'll keep an eye on this thread.

easiski, My OH may be interested. March would be preferred. She is most definitely a very cautious / terrified beginner but is very determined to improve.

I have edited the original post to add dates and a list of names who have expressed potential interest. Please can you now start thinking seriously and also asking those who you think might enjoy and benefit from such a trip. Thanks.

Butterfly, I had a nice Belgian lady today who might be interested (it's her in the second pic on the snow report).

I'll keep an eye on this thread, but I truely don't know what I'm doing next year. I'm fighting a limited number of weeks leave and also the requirement to abandon children on my parents if I holiday by myself. I also have a number of ideas of what I'd like to do with any time I get and there are more ideas than there is cash, leave and probable childsitting weeks available. If I had an inexaustable supply of all three I'd be a 'yes', but I just don't know how next season will pan out. I also don't know which level I'd fit into. I wouldn't stick me on the list yet, but I'm not un-interested.

Megamum, would be great to have you along, but I do understand your difficulties. BTW the levels are arbitrary and won't be really certain till I know who's going to come - they'll be arranged to fit the requirements as far as possible.

Megamum, oh, commit to it woman - let's face it, you'll need the break by then.
Besides, it's easier to organise everything else around a fixed start point.

March doesn't work for me I'm afraid. I'm also very afraid of being potentially the only male in the group, so in the words of Dragons' Den "I'm out!" It's a shame though.

Late starter, Glad to hear from you, and that you're still alive!
Butterfly, Am trying to persuade Roger C's parents-in-law to come. They should be just right, but she is a teacher so can't. He might come alone though - will work on it.

easiski, Lizzard, I really like the idea of an Old Trout's Boarding Bash. I think I qualify as an Old Trout now
|
|
|
|
|
|
Dobz, possibly we should actually have one then. But how many people will be prepared to put their hands up to being old trouts?
|
|
|
|
|
|
Lizzard, Dobz, Surely an old trout would only be someone old enough to think it's silly to wear you trousers round your knees!
