Woke up on Saturday am in Flaine and there was 25 to 30 cm of fresh snow - fantastic sight. Took skis out back of Flaine Montsoleil and skiied down to the bottom of where they are building the new chair. Only about 200 m but the first of the season. Most of it now melted at resort level due to rain today. Let's hope this is a sign of things to come (the snow that is, not the rain)

Hi Alpaka Lodge,
Glad to hear Oscar is alright, I was in Tignes for the season last year, I still miss going to your place on Sunday nights (or was it Monday) always a good laugh and the cheap booze clearly worked as I can't even remember which night it was! I'm coming back this year although its just for a week, will be there on 13th of Dec and will be sure to call in for a beer and a to see the hounds!
Keep updating the snow conditions on here so I can keep getting excited about getting back onto snow soon!!!

Well the snow that fell here is melting quickly now so that should help you feel a little better but I'll be sure to upset you again as soon as we get more. Actually that reminds me, I must ask my wife when I need to get my photo taken for this seasons free pass

Looks as if we're expecting a little snow in the Alps today. The webcams aren't revealing much because it's looking quite gloomy but here's to hoping for some of the white stuff

There was a tiny patch of snow in the shade near the top of the Kitbuhler Horn yesterday afternoon. It was also 20 dgress, so not much to get excited about!

Chasseur, by god it shows how ugly ski-lift paraphanaelia looks in the cold light of summer....

red 27, It doesn't have to be in my opinion. I believe grey pylons are much more pleasing in the summer than those big white pylons, and I like the new type of lift station which is clad in wood. As seen in the lifts under construction in Chamonix, Val Cenis and Montgenevre.

Christopher, good point... I think sights like the one in the picture and an increasing enviromental awareness has forced better design upon the lift companies.
Pylons will never be pretty but as you say there is no excuse now for ugly buildings
