Mount Kenya has a couple of small glaciers, or did when i climbed it in 99, we had snow fall right down to 4000m on the way up, at the top it looks like the high Alpes!

Mt Kenya has the honour of being the only permanent ice on the equator. As we approach sun being vertical on the equator, temperatures are rarely above freezing at the summit, with the freezing level at 600-800m below the summit.

How far is Kilimanjaro from the equator? Also has a number of (receding) glaciers.

Mount Kenya is fairly irrelevant to this thread, which is about somewhere else, but just to add to the irrelevance Wikipedia says
Quote: |
The glaciers on Mount Kenya are retreating rapidly. The Mountain Club of Kenya in Nairobi has photographs showing the mountain when it was first climbed in 1899, and again more recently, and the retreat of the glaciers is very evident.[25] Descriptions of ascents of several of the peaks advise on the use of crampons, but now there is no ice to be found. There is no new snow to be found, even on the Lewis Glacier (the largest of them) in winter, so no new ice will be formed. It is predicted to be less than 30 years before there is no more ice on Mount Kenya.[23] |
