So having got my boots this morning, im looking to buy some skis, however the main problem i've had in looking at skiis on the net is, every review seems to be positive, so i don't know how to distinguish good from great.
Basically this is what i am looking for:
- Quite short turning radius
- Handle any terrain except parks and jumps
- Flexible and not too long to help geting round moguls
-Price 300 euros, RRP could be alot higher because the 08 models seem all to be on discount. Ive been thinking about the atomic nomad whiteout, what do you guys think?

Stevvo, Nomad Crimsons from Conrad - in their flat version (ie with non-atomic binding system) are available in decent lengths with decent bindings for under 300 euros delivered. If I didn't have them already - I would be buying a pair.

Stevvo, mainly because there is no such thing as a bad ski. Everyone likes a slightly different ski so frankly the true answer is to try as many as you can before you buy.
Or just buy a set you like the look of (and the price) and not worry about it.
Seriously.
If you're not going to test loads of skis and find the pair that are perfect for you then don't sweat it. Once you own skis you're going to fall in love with them anyway, just have a look around this site.
Or don't bother and rent.

You know, i think i will go for them, i didn't think i could get the crimson for under 300 and thats why i was looking at the whiteout, thanks for pointing them out!

What length should i go for? i couldn't find a sizing chart for this model on the atomic site.
I'm 70KG and 182cm.

Stevvo, I am 87kg and 178cm and ski on the 176cms. Longer would increase the radius and make bumps and trees more tricky. But I am not a freeride nutter. Unless you are I suspect 176 for you too. Smallzookeeper and some of those more in the know would give you better advice though.

Stevvo, I've owned Crimson's & would recommend the 176 for your stats. If you buy them in the flat I'd mount the bindings about 15mm forward of the line as the ski mark is very rearward.

even the nomad blackeye if you fancy something a bit skinnier. good skis whatever way you go.

Stevvo, Not sure you have the best advice here but I maybe too late.
You say that you want a ski thats quick edge to edge yet the Crimsons are a wide AT ski I think - someone may be able to confirm
Also if you are trying to buy short for moguls what ability level are you?
On having a quick look as to what a Crimson is I read someone giving a comparable review to the Volkl AC40 which I ski.
I am 15+ stone very experienced and aggressive. Are you at the right level for them.
By the sounds of it the Crimson is a bit more freindly to a less agressive skier than the AC40 so you might be OK.
Nobody has asked you any questions so be careful. There are some horrors out there but most of the German/Austrian brands are well engineered.(Atomic bindings not so good)
Have you bought yet?? If you have and still struggle in the bumps - get some lessons or I could give you a few tips.

Sorry Arv - just seen your suggestion and I agree if you want quicker edge to edge this looks a better option if Stevvo is at this level.
