Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

World's highest ski bars?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I got a bit bored reading about various attempts to ski the world's highest peaks and thought someone should attempt to drink in the highest bars on 7 continents instead. But then deciding which are the 7 highest six bars is trickier than finding the seven highest peaks, so I was wondering if anyone had any nominations? In Africa I found a great looking place called the Top Chalet at 2874m the Sani Pass in Lesotho and I also read a good online report of the club facilities at Chacaltaya in Bolivia (5221m) where the writer said that just trying to get your glass to your lips was a tough challenge due to the shortage of oxygen! But the other five continents remain undecided. The highest lift in Asia is at Jade Dragon in China but there's not really any skiing there (officially), apparently, so does any bar there count, if there is one? Next best bet is probably Gulmarg. Various candidates for the other continents, but nothing very definitive so any ideas appreciated in a bid to build a consensus!

The Glacier restaurant at Les Deux Alpes is 3200m. I guess it has a bar - not my favourite place.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

There's definitely one at Zermatt (although it's on the border and could be Cervinia) at 3480m.

The bar at the top of the Aiguille du Midi has to be "up there" (snigger)

"Piz Gloria"? (Top of Schilthorn)

Restaurant on the Grand Motte?

Rifgio Giglielmina (3.300m IIRC)

The Frog And Roast Beef in Val Thorens claims to be 'the highest pub in Europe', although I suppose anything up the mountain beats it by quite a few metres Smile

isn't the Fox Pub up the road higher? Oh no, I forgot, to qualify as a pub you have to have a shove happeny table.

I read the figure of 3,842m for the Aiguille du midi but I don't know if that is the rock or the viewing gallery or the bar (I assume it might make a few metres difference).
