Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Which to choose - Serre Chevalier; Deux Alpes, or Chatel

Simple question - which is the best for a group ranging from beginners to higher intermediates? I've got some good deals for each at the start of Jan.

Which has the best snow (Please don't lambaste me, I know that you cannot predict that far in advance, just wondering generally).

Also lift wise, what's best for us snowboarding, draglift hateing folk.

Finally, nightlife. Any comments, we're not looking for clubs every night, but a good choice of restaurants and pubs would be good.

Don't intend to lambast you, but they often get snow from different places and very may well have very different snow conditions early season. Even though Serre che and 2 alpes are close together Serre che benefits far more from south westerlies and 2 Alpes from north westerlies. In january if you can wait and see where the snow falls so much the better.
If you can't:

L2A has a glacier and reasonable snow making and has high slopes you will definately get some snow and the skiing should suit beginners and high intermediates though some say it is not so good for lower intermediates. It is exposed if the weather is bad.

SerreChe often has good early season conditins but does suffer the occasional poor start , it has excellent snow making and tree lined slopes if the weather is bad with reasonable height but no glaciers (Lift served). It is about my favourite resort and I think it serves most groups pretty well.

Chatel has a fair bit lower skiing though it has a good natural snow record for it's height with reasonable snow making if the weather is cold and has very suitable skiing.

You pays your money and takes your choice mine would be wait and see or Serre Che but that is more personal preference. Couldn't say the other options would not work.

Can't really comment on nightlife but they will all have pubs and restaurants.
Serre Che has a few drags but nowadays they are mainly avoidable with ease (It is ver popular with boarders). Off the glacier and nursery slopes I don't recall any in 2 Alpes. Can't recall using any in Chatel but it was a while since I was last there there are some over in the main PdS area.
