Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Would never have thought it. Only negative on a roofbox I heard was of 1 ripping off the bars while parked up in Corrie Cas Car Park on Cairngorm due to high winds.

johnDUB, straight skis, rear-entry boots, serves them right. Fat skis distribute the load much better. wink

Seriously, that picture looks hokey. The car isn't even dented.

Edit: we're supposed to believe that that happened with just brake application?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

We have seen (well come across the remains) of overpacked boxes (i assumed considering how much stuff was lying about) when the lids burst open, both became obstacle courses on the motorway and the car it was from parked up at the side. minus lid of box. Saw in twice in 2006. I suppose it can break out if the skis are left loose in the box. Fifth gear did a test with a tool box in the boot, and a crash at 30 or 40 mph, the box went through the split rear seats!

It stands to reason really, heavy loads should always be secured so that they cant shift during sudden breaking manouvers or they will fly arround

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

My Thule roof box has webbing straps that fasten the skis down above the roof bar fixings, holding them securely.

The pictures a press release apparently from ADAC, who are the german AA, and I believe the TUV standard is god like to the CE or Kite mark we had. I found it looking on kamei's tuning site for a new grill badge for the volksy Shocked

You wonder what speed, but you can see the front that it has ruptured open, so perhaps the ski's where there as that's the majority load in germany for a box being used as a graphic example.... just a waste of a volksy they're sat on rolling eyes
Like Spyderman, I have thule with webbing straps, had it 8 years now, and i anally double secure with ski's in a bag then in the box Embarassed Laughing
