Poster: A snowHead

I'm looking around into places to go for next season. If I saw something for the right price I could book it now, or wait I'm not really fussed. But most places haven't started to list for next season yet - when is it best to start looking around? Or when will more places start to advertise for next season?
Cheers

Scottland, depends when you want to go, really. Unless it's peak time (e.g. half tem, in which case book asap) there'll be plenty of choice, and maybe some bargains, later. Are you looking for a package, or DIY? And where? Some flights are bookable now (eg British Airways) others (eg easyJet) will go on sale any day now.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Scottland, have a look at Inghams. I booked a trip through them for January and got a discount as it was an "Early Bird Special".

pam w, Looking at Austria - mid Jan not decided on the resort yet I'm still undecided. But it'll likely be DIY, not too concerned with flights and connections - it's more accommodation as most sites I look at aren't listing much for next season. I know I should be looking forward to a summer holiday, but I want snow
VolklAttivaS5, will look at Inghams now, cheers.

Scottland, if you are travelling by yourself then don't forget the Snowheads Birthday Bash end of Jan, there's talk of that being in Austria, the mid season bash in March and the EoSB in April. No details on any of those as yet though......

If you're looking at DIY Scottland, then it's well worth looking at websites like http://www.tiscover.at/ or sending your requirements direct to the tourist office of your chosen resort.

At that time of year, you should be able to get a good deal as is generally low season. Have fun!

Scottland, my experience in France is that the local agencies don't start listing till the summer - maybe end of this month, maybe July. It seems to be a very Brit thing to have holidays booked up so madly far in advance. At that time of year there'll be no problem with accommodation, you'll be spoiled for choice and I've not found prices of places booked direct change much (ie no particular benefits in booking early or late). Flights are different, though. Especially with easyJet the earlier the better for weekend flights; the prices do go up quite quickly after they're released. Mid week flights are far cheaper, and quieter, and better in every respect - except for the difficulty of booking mid week accommodation! Most people who have posted on Snowheads about accommodation for periods other than weekend/weekend have found that hotels don't release those until the last minute. Also, if you leave the booking of accommodation till later, you'll have a chance to react to how the early snow is falling; that can make a big difference.
