But all this snow is improving conditions at the glacier resorts. And my failing memory believes that thers been almost as much snow in the Zillertal so far as there was by Christmas last year. Surely a good sign for the coming season (crosses fingers).

One very good point, is the ground temperature above 2000M is presumably alot colder than this time last year. This is important for the first real Winter snow in late October/Nov (if it comes) to settle and stay

Arlberg Weather 8th November
A wet and cold north-western trend will determine our weather over the upcoming days. Generally, a massive onset of winter will reach us. In the mountains larger amounts of snow are expected. A stormy, partly hurricane-like north-western wind will repeatedly reach the valleys and bring stormy blasts. On Thursday afternoon, the weather may continuously calm down, but only for a short time. After that, the weather will severely worsen again. Starting next week, deeply wintry weather conditions are expected, too.

According to some Austrain websites, Silvretta in the Vorarlberg got up to 1.80 meters fresh snow in recent days. In the Tirol, it was usually between 50 and 100 centimeters. As can be expected avalanche risk is high at the moment.

I think its nicer to review the weather station data (links ) I post above & see how much snow has accumulated on Galzig & Rendl over the last few days

It's funny that Galzig has approx. 150cm but Rendl only 60cm for similar altitudes at paces very close to each other, is it being blown off Rendel and drifting at Galzig?

Rendl always gets less.
The snow comes in from the West. It dumps the most on Langen am Arlberg & Stuben, Zurs, Lech then Galzig & St Anton .
