Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

yeah, scary day. Our snowpack went from icy, to blower, to cold/surface hoar, to heavy snow that got heavier then turned into the r-word. A skier triggered a 30m crown 1m depth in Currie 1 (of the 1,2,3's), 7 people caught by it total - no full burials, rumour was that a couple of people were exposed but face down. All people affected were in the FAST FIS team, no serious injuries - one ambulanced to hospital with leg pain but walked out that evening.

Patrol's response was impressive - dogs, heli, RCMP all involved straight away. Really horrible couple of hours waiting for instructors and coaches from the ski school and FAST to check in though. Just shows how there's always risk I guess!
