why have you deleted my post offering availability at a discount for 13th-20th April. It is no more commercial than other posts. Is it because you don't like La Rosiere, don't like me, or you don't believe snowheads are grown up enough to deal with offers of discounted accomodation.

David@traxvax, I used to knock you but hey you have the balls to run a business in the Alps and I don't. Personally if you post in a friendly manner I cannot see the issue with offering your accomodation to anyone.

Because you did not seek permission first.
Because you do not respond to PM's from moderators or administrators.
Because in the past, communications from you to the moderators have been rude to the point of abusive.
Because you have consistenly overstepped the mark with regard to promoting your business on the forum despite numerous requests and warnings.
Because there is no implicit right to advertise your business on snowHeads.
In summary because you have more than used up your credit of goodwill here.
Sorry but you did ask

I rather liked Wear the Fox Hats identification of spam on snowHeads today. Viral marketing of a specific ski holiday IFIRC

rob@rar, I agree, and TBH, I think SnowHeads has this about right. Discreet links via our signatures, the right to reply to a request from another SnowHead if your accommodation is suitable and a lack of commercialism which these days is very refreshing. It would only end up like Chalets Direct solutions room. Posting about your resort, and your accommodation is possible without spamming. But you're right if everyone starts doing it, then so will I, and I don't really want to.

I will only say that I found the mods and admin extremely understanding and forgiving when I blatantly posted a super duper Xmas deal when I was getting desperate. They and he are extremely thoughtful about all of this sort of thing.

Clearly I don't know all/any of the history...
but as a snowhead, I'd quite like to be made aware of 'late availability' - is 'trips' not a place where chalet/apartment owners can post? At the end of the day it's a win/win situation if they as an owner fill space and I as a customer get somewhere on a good deal.
Perhaps we need to make it win/win/wn as there should be a mandatory £25 say towards snowheads running costs, for all 'sales' made in this way. Which reminds me I need to get my paypal out...

Any media can refuse any advertiser. Papers do it. TVs do it, too. So can snowhead.
I do think a "voluntary contribution" when a client and lodge owner meet via snowhead would be a very good idea.

I don't know anything about the way boards like this work, or are moderated, but from my position of complete ignorance I think snowheads has it right - it's not difficult to follow up links, or for that matter to look at "owners abroad" or similar (several of the people I know with apartments to let here are picking up great bookings because of the snow, which continues to be great, with several more inches of fluffy stuff overnight). People looking for a late season week in the powder, and with access to the internet and snowheads, and with an ounce of initiative, can find the offers available without too much effort.

There is: 'chalets and apartments'. There's a quite a bit of history in this particular case that you're probably not aware of in its entirety.
I'd like to see a single, moderated, thread which simply lists which snowHead has ski property available. Beyond that I think the balance is about right, regardless of who has mouths to feed.

Advice and discussion about, not selling and renting of. This section is not for commercial advertising.
Seems pretty clear indication of the sites policy to me

Wouldn't disagree. If there is a section where a person can have an advertisment then if somone is looking for some where to stay they can be pointed in that direction, there should be e-mail addresses for the advertiser in the advert so any communcation can be taken off site. By not addressing the isssue then IMO it casues this continual pimping issue. The advertisers should of course pay and then no pimping allowed

Maybe we should remember that there are commercial "pimping" sites out there like www.chaletsdirect.com. If someone wants to sell there wares thats the place. Having said that I'm OK with the subtle - referral like selling that goes on here - as long as it's not in yer face

Im with Admin on this his ball his rules! There are plenty of places to adverise chalets etc on the web and if added a forum for it it would be acceptable.
Could this be an option a commercial section with a £10 charge for starting a topic?

Good idea. A small charge - rather than vainly relying on people's goodwill - would be painless for the property owner, and would be a small money-spinner for snowHeads. Why not? Or would admin think that the very existence of such a thing would undermine the non-commercial ethos of the site?

As I recall (but I was mainly living in Cirencester at the time and was very confused about many things) david@traxvax was advertising his snow mansion on the front page of snowHeads and paying a warmly-received commission to the site against bookings received.
If snowHeads has moved, or is moving, from a commercial ethos to a non-commercial ethos then this is something to rejoice, but it's not quite clear if this is what's happening or exactly what's causing the strife.
I personally think david@traxvax should pay me one goat per spam.

David Goldsmith, but Chalet Mouflon is no longer in snowShops, and it has not been updated for some time. I assume he therefore no longer pays admin commission. (and yes, I do pay 5% commission and offer a 5% discount for SnowHeads in case anyone is wondering).

A non-commercial ethos, as I understand it, is one in which readers/subscribers finance the site, or a site is financed by philanthropic donations. I've always been up for a non-commercial spam-free ski discussion site.
I guess one has to know what the running costs comprise (not something I've investigated) and how many subscribers would pick up the tab.

Hi Helen, does that entitle you to anything, ie the signature, a certain "space" on snowheads, the right to post commerically or.......
