Poster: A snowHead

Well Im pleased I listened to everyone who suggested I still go skiing even with the bad knee. Had a great time in and around Banff, the knee seemed fine when skiing just a problem walking around the town
As we had our own transport we were able to venture further afield and skied Kicking Horse twice and made it to Revelstoke for a day too - what a place, virtually untouched as yet and the 10 inches of fresh stuff helped along with uncrowded pistes
Skiing on the first day was a nervous experience, not knowing how the knee would be, but as the days progressed so did my enthusiasm for fun. I had vowed to stay on green runs and possibly venture to blue only. We ended up skiing virtually everything, hitting blacks, double blacks in places, bowls and glades. the only thing I wouldnt allow myself was jumps. SWMBO caught me looking at a couple but admonished me quickly. I will say that the knee did help me in moguls, as when I skied them I took them very slowly, thus hopefully improving me technique in them
All in all a great trip, with the only spoiler the accommodation which was very poor.
Thanks again all those who told me to go anyway

Good to hear you had a great time and your knee held up. Where were you staying that the accommodation was so poor?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Bones, glad to hear it was a good trip and that you made the most of the terrain. KH is fantastic isn't it? I'm envious you got to Revelstoke - next time we are over there it will be done.
Sorry the accom was poor - unusual for Banff, as cathy has asked - where did you stay, name it and alert other

Bones, I'd like to see the ones from Revelstoke mainly... they're doing a lot of marketing this year...

Bones, cool... I don't mind waiting. Although I don't know why I do it to myself... no ski trips planned any time soon and with an expectant wife probably unlikely to get a trip next season either...

Bones, I think you are right in that a unique experience will have gone. All the locals we spoke to in Banff in Jan 08 said get there now before it changes - we are soooooooo envious, good on you for doing it before mass comercialism takes place!
