Poster: A snowHead
|
I wondered whether Filzmoos or Maria Alm would be better for a near beginner. I'm thinking of going for about 5 days just after New Year and both seem to have accommodation available. I am looking for a small resort with a good ski school & would appreciate any advice.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

I haven't been to either of those, but another one not too far from there whihc fits your request is Neiderau.
Quite a few snowheads have been there, and while I didn't use the ski school, it gets very good reports.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Maria Alm is a beautiful village and sits right next to its own small ski area, Natrun. The nursery slopes are perfect for a near beginner but as you start to progress there's a lot of good skiing in the immediate area. (Declared interest: we've got an apartment there)

Try Dienten or Aberg is your a beginner, there right down the road and usually better snow, although if you get a chance find your way to Mulbach its prob the best route in austria

trevor, Was at Maria Alm in January. Very nice freindly little resort with good (easy) local slopes and easy connections to Dienten Muhlbach etc if you need a bit more to go at. Enjoyed our week there very much and would consider it ideal for a beginner - excellent English speaking ski-school too. We had 'Tony' who gave us some of the best lessons we've had.
