Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

How about this, still £50 but you can move it from car-to-car.

The Northcore looks a little flat.

cookie monster, you're just not trying!! I drive a Fiat Panda, fitted two of us ( one hefty 6'5 bloke) two board bags and a big holdall in.

Have managed 3 people, 2 snowboards and 2 suitcases aswell, where there's a will ( and a refusal to shell out £180 on a roof rack) theres a way!

I'd have thought the soft rack would be ok especially if the boards are in bags. That's what I'm intending to try on my punto anyway.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I have a polo and have had 2 big board bags (touching windscreen though & fun changing gear!) 3 large holdalls and 4 people so I am damn sure you could do it in a corsa without shelling out on a roof rack

i have picked up one of those big plastic cube climbing things with a slide from toys r us in a ford escort . we just tied it to the roof with rope, by opening the windows a bit you can tie anything to the roof of your car,,.. ok it didnt do the paint work any favours and it was only a 10 mile drive on a warm summers day .. but thats not the point..

you'll be fine with a soft rack in terms of carrying capacity.

the two common complaints with them are:

- noise
they will flail about in the wind and hum/buzz/howl depending on speed - can also be bad for the paintjob. alleged cures include, ensuring they've a twist in them, wedging bits of foam/pipe lagging in, tying a spare sock around the offending strap.

- leakage
if left on in the rain the straps soak through and track water into the car (if they are the type that go through the doors). alleged cures include waterproofing spray/vaseline impregnation just above door level, tying on sock to form a drip (lot's of tying of socks - ensure you factor this into cost of rack).

hope that's some help Cool

Hi rogg,,,

Yeh dont i know it I drive from manchester to Croyde 6 times a year,, with a surf board on the roof i have fixed the leaky strap problem by waterproofing the straps and putting rubber washers on the straps just above the doors so the water does not run down them when it rains wink seems to work quite well wink

i was more worried about the weight issue,,, as usualy i only have two surf boards on the roof,,, not a 25kg board bag see how it goes hey..

thanks for all your ideas guys wink

cookie monster, it's a fun drive that! We used to do Liverpool to either Braunton or Newquay every other weekend. Fortunately for me it was before I had a driving licence, I still don't think I could do it now though.
