Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just got back from C1650 yesterday.
Lift strike on Monday in Courchevel. It was almost impossible to get a bus or a taxi to Meribel where the lifts were working. We managed to get transport by waving money at passing mini buses, one stopped after about 3 minutes. I heard of one 42 seater coach that was ferrying people backwards and forwards at 10e each, and the coach was full, nice work.
The refund for that one day was just 16.50e, not much out of 220e for a 3v six day pass.
No snow there for 4 weeks apart from a light dusting on Friday night on the upper slopes, all the runs are still good if a little hard packed though there is the odd patch of brown on some slopes. There didn't seem to be much piste bashing going on, I was out by 9:30 most days and only saw corduroy once or twice the whole week, some areas were very mogully and needed bashing but maybe they didn't do them because they were worried about exposing the soil.

, that must have been very frustrating, especially with such a measly discount.
As for the bashing, they might have been doing more than you think. I don't think you get much "corduroy" when the snow is so old and hard. Sounds like the snow is holding up well, all things considered.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Ooh fab thank you so much for this! I'm really holding out for some snow, we are going on Sunday. Good to read the snow is holding up though. What a pain, the lift strike. You must have been FUMING! I know I would be!!!!

, fear not. When we were in the 3V in January 2002, at a time of rubbish snow throughout much of the Alps, 1650 had the best snow in the 3V. But it is going to snow......
