Poster: A snowHead

ok, I don't understand these graphs that get posted - i can barely understand the weather report after the news - can someone please tell me, is it going to snow or not in the next 17 days before I head off to Les Arcs? Snow reports look a bit rubbish at the mo and I'm fretting. Please say yes so I can go to bed all happy....

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

sallywt, I think the thrust of the current situation is that the weather is likely to change quite dramatically in the first week of March, quite possibly for the better. But it's all over the place; so you'll just have to wait. It will become clearer - but nobody with any sense of weather is going to give you anything concrete 20 days ahead. It could be great, though; be optimistic!

Oh god, thanks pam w, crossed fingers. At least there's a hope eh?! First week of March would do just fine, heavy snowfall, the it can clear up for blue skies again thereafter please! I was hoping someone on here would be psychic and do a forecast til the end of season. Does Derek Acorah ski and talk about it on a forum anywhere?

sallywt, Just because you used "eejit" and therefore are probably at least passing familiar with "God"'s own true country I won't get all nasty and sarcastic.
17 days ahead? No-one has a clue.
If it doesn't snow and remains warm like it is now? Sure, slopes below 1,500m will really suffer. Above that you'll have springlike conditions. Not necessarily a bad thing. Slopes above 1,500m or so are pretty nice right now round here.
In fact, the pistes are remaining in remarkably good shape, particularly given the number of fat Parisians who've been skiing on them.
It looked like it was snowing overnight above 1,400m and as pam w, suggests, it looks as though we are in for some weather over the next couple of weeks. Which is maybe better than no weather. But maybe not.
Relax. You're going somewhere high and with lots of runs. You'll (probably) be fine.
(But you are being a bit fussy aren't you? What if it snows everyday you're here? Is tired snow and sun better than powder? I would submit not...)

David Murdoch, i am being fussy yes, and also neurotic and evidently demanding too. Sunch is life when I haven't had more than 2 days off work for a whole year and things MUST BE PERFECT!!! wish I had a different preferred holiday - sunbathing somewhere on the equatorial line for example
