 Poster: A snowHead

Hello there. A few of us going out on the 1st March. Has anyone been recently or there at the moment? What are the conditions like? On some websites it says alot of snow forecast mid week onto next week, but others say a little snow and some rain?! Any news please!!!

Yes a snow report from someone would be great please. We're heading out on Wednesday, but if the conditions are really crap then we may head further west to St Anton (better outlook).

At least at Kaprun you have the Kitzsteinhorn glacier where it's unlikely to fall as rain

Thanks Cathy - what a great site (maybe even more useful than skiclub!).
Yes we chose Kaprun for the glacier - and Gastein glacier just round the corner(ish) so up for a day trip there.
Good to hear you guys would stick with Kaprun. Will keep an eye on that thread Fruity, cheers.

Am presuming you've been to kaprun before......its an excellent resort. I enjoyed it big time and would go again..... shame about the buses (we like ski to door and when we were there, there just wasnt the snow in the village)...but we had a great time and the conditions on the glacier were just unreal.
not quite as good as Obertaurn but almost..

Wetter.at is a great site but a word of warning - the forecast changes regularly and not usually favourably. One day you 'll look and snow is forecast, the next day it isn't. By the way a mate of mine e mailed them recently and asked if they could install an English translation button. "Nein" was the answer.

cheers for responses. never been to kaprun before so am looking forward to the glacier. am keeping my fingers crossed for some fresh snow!!

rukas2111, the snow on the glacier in Kaprun is really good at the moment, unlike in some of the surrounding resorts so don't worry! Some more snow is forecast over the next week - rain in the lower resorts but snow on the glacier so don't worry!
