You're not as dumb as you look, Swiller. How did you work that out?
Don't call me Shirley, by the way.

Bode, watching a countdown on a website?
...and I thought I needed to get out more!

Wear The Fox Hat, Twist away my son. I have been out more... which is why I haven't wasted my life on 'ere lately. Anyway there's a big difference between watching a countdown and just happening to notice one.
Anyone interested should go onto that site and sign up to be a volunteer. As far as I can tell it isn't just open to Canadians.
Only 75 mins or so and we'll be just 723 days away.

OK, say I'm Irish and want to volunteer to watch the countdown, as you're recommending - does that mean I go home when the opening ceremony starts?

I saw the Snow Leopard last week in the Ellis Brigham at MK Xscape. I said "You haven't been on Snowheads for a while" and he said he was working for some more race results and would be back on here.

if you want to vounteer you will need a police check done through the RCMP out here. i was talking to the people form VANOC last week about the process.
here in whistler/vancouver, they can look at your id (drivers licence and passport) and start the search based on that. For out of country the process is going to be far more hassle. Having a CRC from the UK police may be a good start.
Anyway, what does anyone want to do? knowing most of the the on-hill chiefs personally, and the fact i will spending a good amount of the next week making a video for them , and can get an "in" for fellow snowheads.
And if anyone wants to come out to whistler cup early april, or nationals next feb i am certain we can get you a good job on the course.

Why, are they the ones who came and rescued you in a helicopter when you got yourself and your friends lost and had to spend a night on the mountain?

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Kramer, actually no, a completely different set of people.
please feel free to make fun of that one, but if you every want the real story behind please feel free to meet me a for a beer.
i will not name names or publicly give the whole story, BUT when your "qualified" leader takes your water for another part of the group, then doesn't come back, leaves you with his friend who incidentally cannot manage any more hiking at all when you HAVE to to get out, doesn't raise any alarm, etc....
The weather closes in, and you talk with patrol, take charge and do what you have to do.
and just for the record 2 of the 3 of us had no need for a helicopter at any point, we were fine.
and if you think i am irresponsible. i practically carried someone with an injured knee from singing pass upto oboe summit to call in a helicoptor this summer. I don;t leave people behind.....and i will never go out of bounds again without personally knowing everyone in advance you i might be stuck with.
