Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snow report 15th February 2008.

As we enter the busiest weeks of the season it is fortunate that a good base has built up in Europe as settled weather means that new snow is unlikely in the forseeable future. Fortunately temperatures seem to be turning colder and freezing levels are dropping which will help the pisteurs preserve the snow that has already fallen.

In France the general consensus seems to be that pistes are generally holding up well, with a few harder patches here and there, and still some good off piste to be found by those who are prepared to hike and 'earn their turns. Les Deux Alpes is a little hard packed on some of the busier corners of the pistes, with some wind blown crust off piste, and more snow would be welcome. Les Gets is currently having a dusting of new snow, which is very welcome, despite the fact that conditions remain reasonable. Serre Chevalier still has good cover, and some fresh tracks can still be found, although it is a little hard and icy in areas. La Plagne and Les Arcs seem to be getting the best reports though, with some powder stashes still remaining untracked, although a large amount of hiking needed to reach them. Cover in Chamonix remains good, if a little slushy lower down thanks to recent rainfall.

Unfortunately up to date snow reports from other European resorts are a little thin on the ground this week, so the weatherHead hopes that the multitudes of snowHeads returning this weekend will rectify the situation. Schladming is in good nick thanks to cold weather as is St Anton.

Whistler has had some great skiing under bluebird skies this week, although as ever there has been some rain at resort level and on the lower slopes. Jackson Hole is reporting a vintage season, backed up by those snowHeads lucky enough to have experienced it. Sunshine is also having powder conditions this week.

Finally, Scotland continues to have an excellent season.

As always thanks to all those who've contributed pictures and snow reports, we couldn't do it without you, and this week a request for more snow reports and photos please. Any queries or corrections please feel free to start a thread in Snow Reports or PM the weatherHead. snowHead

The longer term forecasts for the Pyrenees seems to indicate temperatures rising rather than falling. That being said both Peyragudes and Baqueira Beret are skiing very well with only the lowest of runs becoming soft. Hats off to the teams preparing the slopes as they are is great condition.

More snow would be great though...................
