Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just a word of warning about buying ski's while in resort. While i bought my ski's in Finches before going away, my husband wanted to try several pairs on the slopes before buying a pair. he tried a selection out (not using a large selection as hoped) and it was very messy having to faff around changing them, but eventually he settled on a pair of
K2
crossfires which he appeared to get a relatively good deal on, considering he would have had to pay the hire charge anyway. However,on our next skiing holiday one of the bindings snapped, half way up the mountain. Back in the UK he booked mine in for service and his for repair, only to find out that he had been sold the ski's with the wrong bindings on. The guy in france had apparently used quick release hire bindings that are used for rental ski's only. Now it is impossible to get the binding fixed and we are now faced with ahiving to buy new bindeings for the ski's after at total of only 12 days use - Not such a good deal.
I suppose you live and learn, if we had been more experienced at buying ski's, ( we are only one our 2nd & 3rd pair respectively), we would have probably realised at the time.
So just a note to anyone planning to buy abroad. Be vary careful to check what you are getting. Our deal has turned into and expensive one.

, Plenty of skiers happily using ex rental bindings on their own kit. Is the binding faulty, or simply heavy?
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

If I was buying ex demo skis I'd expect them to have rental bindings on. Sounds like they flogged you a pair of their rental stock (even if they were unused). If not & I didn't want to be lending them to people I wouldn't want the extra weight of a demo track.
All is not lost- find the model of the binding then find a workshop that will sell you the parts from their spares box (you're unlikely to find it as formal shop stock)
