I did a bit of dune boarding a few years ago, very sandy, falls were less painful.

Ordhan, only too well, and its the helmet that suffers most, I can tell you. I did it 5 years ago, and I still find the odd grain of sand in an unexpected place.

The Dune de Pyla is the biggest in the world (France) and is the only one that can be seen from the great wall of China, apparently.
I will be on my bike.

I've been there in the summer - well hot, the sand's so hot it burns your feet. We climbed the ladder you can see in the vid to get to the top, and ran and somersaulted down the other side. Great fun. A lot harder work climbing back up - there's no ladder the other side. Beautiful place, with some excellent seafood restaurants. Didn't see anyone skiing

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

RachelQ, my very, very earliest childhood memory is of my granny running after me on the sand, urging me to put sandals on, in case I burned the soles of my feet!

Actually yes .
I went dune boarding in Namibia last year. They liberally coated the base in soft furniture wax & left it for a few minutes in the hot sun, wiped off the excess & then rubbed the base with a hand full of sand to polish it up. Was surprisingly fast. Goggles are a must & don't wear sunnies as they'll get swallowed up by the sand never to be seen again.
