Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

will moving railflex back hinder technique

Am going to be doing some off piste lessons soon.
I was recommended to maybe put my railflexes to the back setting for off piste to help with keeping the tips up on my Head Monster 72s.
Will this hinder my technique and progress?

Is it better to learn on these skis or rent some wider ones and then go back to the 72s with the railflex set to aft?

Don't really have an opinion on moving these back....but 72mm is pretty narrow these days and will not be the help that fatter skis can be.
I'd hire wider skis from 80mm upwards or more if you are comfortable with bigger skis.

With good enough technique or an slight adjustment you'll get the 72's to work but it might be better to cut down too many changes in what you normally do...as you'll be struggling to know what to correct/adjust when.

Imho, not really the proper question to ask. The smaller waist size will limit the lines you can ski to those close to the fall line, or those where your skis dive close to the bottom, no matter how good your technique. The more float area, the wider the variety of lines and turn shapes. What do you want to do?

GordonFreeman, Needn't be a problem. The skis will be a bit softer than you are used too, so a should be a bit easier to get on with than more piste oriented skis. The old Pocket Rockets seemed to be a great first time powder ski.

I'd just ask the shop (as in 'I need some skis for and offpiste lesson' rather than 85mm wide wink ) and take their advice. Have you booked your lesson ? The instructor or ski school woud also be able to offer advice.
