Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Lessons in Courchevel - Adult & Child beginners

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi,

I'm going to Courchevel 1650 in March. I need to book beginner lessons for four Adults and one 12yr old. I'm assuming its best to book the 12yr old into a separate group? I'd like maybe 3-4hr lessons per day for the week. Any advice please on ski schools/instructors?? Also the 12yr old wants to learn to board, but I think its best for him to start off on skis?? Would appreciate all advice.

Cheers.

trevorsmyth, when in March? We're there first two weeks of March (in 1650). We always go with Supreme Ski, but they are in 1850, and we have private afternoon lessons, not group morning lessons, so we have time to ski over there.

trevorsmyth, We were in Courchevel 1650 over New Year and my other half changed from our shared ESF private lessons to a group lesson with Ski New Generation after a couple of days. Her group was pretty mixed in regard to age. For instance, there was a mum and her 11 or 12 year old in the group. In other words there's probably no need to send your 12 yr old off on his own if he/she decides to ski rather than snowboard, they can come into your lesson with you. I can only endorse what is said on this site about Ski New Gen. Extremely accommodating, and there's something quite comforting about not having to worry about language issues when your going through the stress of being a beginner. As for me, well I was picking up my school level French again by the end of the week despite asking for an English ESF speaking instructor. Mind you it has encouraged me to think about learning French properly - it's amazing how much you remember from school.

I've had great experience of Supreme Ski School - see my original posting on the experience at http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?p=86152&highlight=supreme+ski+school#86152

StanBowles, I think Supreme Ski are excellent - we've had several private lessons with Gareth Roberts. However, it isn't so easy to get over from 1650 to La Croisette at 1850 in time for the start of morning lessons, so New Gen would probably be better for somebody staying in 1650 who wants morning lessons. We're going with Supreme, but having afternoon lessons, as we can get back before the lifts close.

Thanks for the help guys. Am consulting the rest of the group at the mo (joys of booking on behalf of others) but think we will probably go for Newgen. Will let you know how we get on.

Cheers,

Hi guys,

I've booked with Newgen. They don't run kids courses the week we are there, so I've booked the 12 yr old in with the other 4 adult beginners. Newgen courses only run Mon-Fri as standard, so I've booked an extra day for them on the Sun - I would have thought Sun was the most important day for beginners, as most people arrive on a Sat and would be pretty brave, or bored, if they didn't have lessons on the Sun?
I've booked myself into their Level 5 group lessons which run from Mon-Fri.
We liked the idea of being able to begin the lessons from 1650 and not have to think about getting bus to 1850 etc. We're all looking forward to it, should be a laugh.

Thanks for all the help folks.
