Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Val Thorens accomodation for single mum and 14 yo daughter newbies

We are planning to visit Val Thorens on 29 March for a week. Daughter (14) is fairly competent young skier, having been on school trips. I have not skied for 20 years and will be back to square one so will need some lessons!
Is Val Thorens a good place to choose - we want to be guaranteed snow. Also can anyone recommend decent apartments to stay please, as we are looking for somewhere clean and quiet and accessible. Have been recommended Balcons de Val Thorens so far. Thanks for any help which will be appreciated.

fificat, Welcome to snowHead 's. VT is one of the highest resorts in Europe, therefore a good choice for snow at that time of the season. I've only stayed in an hotel in VT, so can't help with the rest.

Welcome to snowHeads fificat, snowHead

Val Thorens is a great late season place and popular with a lot of snowHeads. We actually hold our End of Season Bash there, 3 weeks after the week you're looking at and we've always found all the runs open.
If you're looking for catered accom, lots of tour operators run places in Val Thorens.
The Quartier Balcons is an area overlooking the main town (about 500m walk). There are 3 fairly substantial complexes of quite pleasant apartments there called 'Les Balcons', 'Val2400' and 'Chalet Altitude' ( in ascending order of quality although tbh there's not a huge deal of difference between them).
However, I don't think any of them have small apartments, they start at about 6 pers I believe and go up to about 12. So, while you might well get a room in one of these apartments thats been taken on for the season by a tour op, if you're going direct, they probably wont have what you need.

If you're looking to DIY it and book a self-catered apart or a room in a hotel, the Val Tho web site has quite a good facility for checking availability.

Prosneige is generally the best recommended Ski School in Val Thorens and we use them at the EoSB.

Don't stay at Temples d'Soleil. It's certainly accessible and a good budget option but quiet it ain't!

fificat, if you can get a last minute deal in a catered chalet, that might be a more fun and sociable option for you both.
