Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Binding adjustment for kids

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I am new to forum, and have an urgent matter that I hope somebody can help me with.

I just bought a pair of alpine ski for my kid, 6 years old.
When I picked them up, I saw that they had put on the Salomon 607 binding, starting on DIN 2.

The kid weighs 20 kg, and the boots are 259 mm.
In the DIN chart it seams he should not wear this setup until he is 26 kg.

We are leaving for ski holiday tomorrow, and there is no time to return to the shop.

What do we do? Should we rent ski for him? Will this setup be dangerous for him? He is very new to alpine skiing.

Hi pusurkine, and welcome to Snowheads snowHead

My advice would be to take the skis with you and get a ski shop out there to take a look and offer you advice - if your hiring other gear then the same shop should do it for free I reckon.

I suspect they'll be fine but get someone who sets ski's up all the time to offer you their advice.

Have a great Holiday !

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Din settings are not just about weight, you have to take into account experience. So if your kid has skied before they would have a slightly higher setting then a new skier, I take it he he has skied before from your comment. If you are not sure about them, take them to a shop in the resort and I'm sure they will check them for free, as it is only a matter of turning a screw. But leave it to the experts as you want the ski to come off in a fall.

Have a good trip. Very Happy

Thanks a lot for your respons.

We have decided to postpone our vacation by one day, to be able to visit the shop again, and discuss this with them.

I really hope they are able to give a conclusive answer, not the type of answer that gives us the option to replace the binding if we want, but rather a more absolute answer...
