Can anyone help please?
I am trying to tweak my ski boots and wondering if sorbothane footbeds, rather than the current "normal" footbeds is a good idea.
I use them in my running shoes and walking boots and the stuff doesn't compress (it's rubbery) but absorbs shock. I thought it might take the sting out of long runs?
Is it possible that they could make me stand too "high" (they are about 4mm thick) and are they worth experimenting with please?

mdemon2, i would try one of the off the shelf products from superfeet or conformable, they arer avaiable in most ski and outdoor shops and will give some added shape under your foot, IME the problem with sorbathane and other shock absorbing inserts is that they are too thick, making the boot very tight in certain areas, they also offer no support for the foot, it is a bit like trying to run on soft sand if you have too much cushioning.... in saying all this it really depends on your foot
good luck

If they fit in your ski boot and you already own them, why not just try it out and see if it works. If not just take them out and stuff them in a backpack.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Suck it and see? Why not!
Was just seeing if they had already been tried in skiing.

Sorbothane is fantastic at shock absorbing, but I fancy it it also quite a poor insulator and may lead to cold feet. I love mine for hiking but do not think that they cup and support the foot which is what you need with a ski boot insert.

Sorbothane is a synthetic version of the tissue already on your heel, however, 33% effective. Why not just buy some Superfeet T2Fit Green and triple the benifit? Nature is good to us.

Will do. They're the ones with the green pad of gel at the heel aren't they?

I wear sorbothanes in all my shoes as i suffer from bruised heals from cricket. So when i started skiing i put them in my ski boots after 10 weeks of sking no problems at all.
