Nope. Women DH live from Cortina. Think it's something to do with Eurosport not agreeing TV rights with Kitzbuhel

Looks like the reports about him being OK were premature. He's been taken to hospital in Innsbruck and placed in an artificial coma. The doctors can't say right now whether he's going to have any lasting damage. There's been a lot of criticism from Bode Miller and Hermann Maier because the last jump was altered to make it more spectacular.

Seen the video. Wasn't a nice site. I hope he makes a full recovery. What speed would he have been going?

Just watched a few vids of the fall on youtube - horrendous fall. The spasms at the end make for very uncomfortable viewing.
Christopher, apparently he was going 140 kmph or 85 mph at the time of the fall.

f**k me, that is quick.
Interesting Miller and Maier were criticising the organisers for creating the jump for spectacular purposes.

The lastest news is that MacCartney is awake again and talking. The docs think he won't have any lasting damage S

Christopher, Yes he is credited with 33rd place in the results, but don' think that it really matters at present. Hope there are no lasting injuries.

Awesome run.
Did you see him actually ski the barrier at the side! The commentators even mentioned that he skied the netting as if it was a banked turn! Cocked it up, went too wide, skied through the netting and still came second!

I wrote about the crash in my blog. Here's the link if you wish to read more
http://homeboyski.com/2008/01/20/scott-macartneys-horrible-crash-in-kitzbuhel-downhill-scott-macartney-suffered-concussion/
I was a bit shocked with Scott's crash. It really looked horrible, especially because he was unconscious and his boody was shaking. I thought he received some serious neurological injuries or traumatic brain injury. Well, I am glad I was wrong. The latest news say that he woke up and is recovering. He has no broken bones, no injuries. He only suffered concussion, even though a serious one. I am glad Scott is recovering.
Sorry for the language errors in my blog article. I had to write it quickly on Saturday morning because I busy with my kids.

So he is - I thought he had to have at least one ski on as he crossed the line to record an official time, and IIRC both skis had gone by then. Can a racing guru advise?
I gather Scott is well on the mend.

achilles, For a bloke to smash his head off the piste at nigh on 100 mph, crack his helmet open like an egg and come away with only concussion, when he's released from hospital he really should consider doing the Lottery.....because from what I saw of that crash Scott MacCartney is one luckiest men on this planet.
