In January I managed to get two small nicks in the fabric of my Eider Goretex jacket. Might have been from ski edges or where a boarder took me out one day. Eider have said that they can't say if they can fix them unless I go through the realms of posting said jacket off etc. etc. Has anyone found a method mending these (descretely - yes, I know Duck tape looks gnarley, but I am looking for a more subtle approach). At the moment I have the nicks whipped shut with some sewing thread and its doing a fair job, but I wondered if anyone had a source of goretex self stick patches that might provide a solution (or some other ideas). Jacket is bright red!!

altis, Cheers
I might give them a bell when I've got the jacket washed - the nicks are close together and only small (<1" - However, given the cost of the jacket it might be worth doing.

Megamum, you could also try Tundra if only for a price comparison, to LSR
Did you not get any patches with said jacket though

LSR will also wash Gore Tex properly before repair, IIRC

Bones, No patches with jacket It came from a bargain rail at a ski show - very slight second - some balling on the hand covers where it had snagged on the velcro during trying on I think, and as such there were no patches in the pockets. It certainly looks as though there are companies out there that can help though which I was unaware off - cheers guys.

I've used Mcnett Gore-tex patches for repairs to skiing gear and luggage, they are very good and are available in several colours. About the same price as a roll of duck tape

Megamum, It states they are made in red but I couldn't find any for sale online. Might be worth contacting them.

If you're near the coast, try a chandler's and ask for spinnaker repair tape. It comes in various colours, and can be stuck on the inside to provide an effective repair

I repaired mine with a fishing wading repair kit that I had lying around but you could easily buy in a fishing tackle shop. Cut the appropriate size patch and iron on. Simple, easy and water proof.

I think I might try a roll of the spinaker tape - it's not too costly - looks to be about the right colour, and if it will do for spinakers it must be good strong stuff!
Edit: I've now ordered a roll and will report back with success or failure.

Sorry came across this thread a bit late. There is a shop in Washington, Sunderland that undertakes all specialist repairs for Berghaus. They also fix just about any other technical material.
I have had one jacket there four times and when it comes back, even though I know where to look for the hole there is no trace.........unsure what they do but it must be magic.
Maybe worth having the details if the tape solution doesn't work out.

The Spinnaker tape has turned up so I'm going to try that, but I think I'll wash the jacket first rather than after - that might give the tape a better chance to make a good bond before the jacket is next used. ledge, certainly sounds like magic!

This stuff is very good, flexible down to -30C, £5 at B&Q. I fixed a good sized tear in my jacket's arm this winter with this stuff, very good on gloves too.

Well I got the jacket washed this weekend, if I find time tommorow I'm going to look at getting inside the lining and then having a go at undoing the stitching that I whipped the tear up with when it occured to try the spinnaker tape. I suspect that picking the stitching undone won't be easy as I made a good job of it, but the only cotton I had to hand was orange, so it fairly visible, the red tape I've got should do the job better if I can position it properly on the inside.

I just got some of the red spinaker tape for my jacket. Will have to test it if I get some nicks, it's just a couple of very minor bits on the cuffs at the moment.

Put Seam Grip (http://www.mcnett.com/Seam-Grip-Seam-Sealer-Outdoor-Repair-P133.aspx) on inside of jacket after closing rips on outside with masking tape. I'd suggest one layer of Seam Grip straight on the jacket, then putting some scrap nylon over the Seam Grip and then putting another coat over the nylon (other fabric will work too). Let that dry for about 24 hours, then remove the masking tape. After that, iron on the Gore-Tex patch (http://www.mcnett.com/GORE-TEX-Fabric-Repair-Kit-P221.aspx), apply some pressure with your fingers once warm, and let sit for 24 hours. It won't breath like Gore-Tex due to the Seam Grip, but it's only a small section of the jacket and it will be more waterproof than before.
