Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Has anybody been there in January? Also, any recommendations for hotels? We're looking at a week next year, 2 - 9 Jan. Be interested inn any experiences as I know all the slopes are south facing.

jollyroger, I was there in March a couple of years ago... it was not a good year generally and conditions were OK up the mountain but we had to downride the gondola from the mid-station to resort - no hardship really.

I liked it OK, easy sunny skiing, but wouldn't return - there are better places IMV

Watch your hotel location as the gondola (this is in Crans) is uphill all the way from the town centre. The town seemed to lack atmosphere with a rather international-euro-trash feel.

I much prefer both Villars and Verbier in that general area...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

jollyroger, I was there inJanuary 2008. I enjoyed it but won't rush to go back. The slopes are south facing so conditions could be a problem but they weren't when I was there. I can't remember the name of the hotel it wasn't bad but not good enough to bother remembering.

I've done Jan there twice. Both times the issue was to much snow for them to open the glacier.

I've skied there in January for 8 years. Generally snow conditions aren't a problem at that time of year- the sun's weak so doesn't effect it too much. red 27, I agree the glacier is pretty to look at, but that's it - however you do want them to be able to open the run down from Plaine Morte.

jollyroger, It's a super ski area for a week (although I've done a few fortnights). If you give an indication of what you're looking for ski wise I can make some recommendations. In terms of hotels, do you know if you're looking to Crans or Montana? got some good recommendations for Montana
