Hey, we are going back to Banff this january, and not b&b this time, so where is good for breakfast?
We are staying in the Caribou Lodge. So if anyone knows of places that would be much appreciated.

jopo, breakfast in the Caribou is nice. Bottom of mountain at Lake Louise is good too. And don't forget to try B'tifsplicks on Banff Avenue, typical American diner. Best of all is Melissa's on the corner of Lynx and Caribou.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
We are going back in Jan and that was 1st on our list!!!!
Last time we went we got breakfast when we got to the mountain, so as Helen Beaumont, at the bottom of Lake Louise and at the top of gondola at Sunshine. Please tell me they still do the "Sunshiner" up there.

As ajpaul says, Melissa's is a very safe bet. The local's place, Bruno's is worth a punt too. Have fun - I miss that town!

Rossfra8, sorry to double post, but Melissa's is dead opposite Banff Park Lodge on Lynx street.

For coffee and muffins on the run, I always liked Evelyn's (original shop at 201 Banff Avenue: just across the road from the Mount Royal) - I don't know if the quality's been maintained since Evelyn sold the business, a few years back, though. (Haven't been back to Banff for a couple of years).

Base area of Sunshine is better than the top of the gondola. Bottom cafe has a bar that does fried breakfast, top mainly has breakfast burgers.
In Lake louise the day lodge does breakfast baps, upstairs does a buffet breakfast

You know it makes sense.

I recommend the buffet - good value if you want to stoke up for the day

Hi,
I wish I was going back to BANFF, i absolutely love the place !!! try this site for dining ideas h??p://www.taximike.com/ BRUNOS & Coyotes are good for Brekkie, for an AMAZING steak experience try SALTLIK , they use infared cooking or something like that, steaks are amazing and very good priced cocktails in the bar lounge area below!.
AWESOME - wish I was going !!!
Might be going for a short break to Verbier instead only 3/ 4 days !! Does anyone know about Verbier, is it REALLY expensive for drinks / food etc?????

I am of the opinion that hanging around for breakfast is a waste of good skiing time. I am on the first bus up to the slopes, grab something quick on the way and ski the day away. Hanging around for food is wasting good ski time, loads of time for food in the evening whe it is too dark to ski

having stayed at the Caribou Lodge on numerous occasions, the cost of the buffet breakfast is peanuts. great value. Don't waste slope time get up eat on the way out and ski. For me i always prefer to load up with food and ski all day until "beer o'clock."

I agree with Ken Lingwood. If I recall Breakfast is about C$10 at the Caribou and it is all you can eat. The full range from cereal to full fry up and every option in between. Ken, I seem to recall that you took a shine to the Egg Benedict!

We used to get the early bus to Lake Louise and then grab breakfast at the bottom of the mountain before the lifts opened. The used to do a good breakfast buffet. Mind you, that was about 8 years ago...

Essex Alp, they were the nuts. Almost as good as the hot wings at Lake Louise with a few beers at the end of the day.
jopo, you won't go hungry in Banff thats for sure!!!!!!!

Caribou breakfast as good as any hotel brekkie I've ever had, skiing or otherwise. Fill up there before early bus and you won't have to stop for fuel again until mid afternoon!
Sad to hear the demise of B'tifsplicks, loved the table top juke boxes.

Ski Tyke, we went out for dinner at B'tifsplicks just to realise it was no longer there

Melissa's! We had brekkie every day there on our honeymoon (5 years ago) The place was well filled every day, but never so full we coudn't get a seat. Lots of locals too, so it must be good.

Saltlik is decidedly excellent-altho the look on my fathers face when "seasonal vegetables" turned out to be "brocolli" was priceless-there was an angry scotsman
