Austrians Benjamin Raich and Nicole Hosp enjoyed slalom victories on either side of the Atlantic. For both, it was their first victory of the season. Raich’s win at Bad Kleinkicheim puts him at the top of the Alpine skiing World Cup rankings.
His combined time was 1:34.46 - 0.66 seconds ahead of Jens Byggmark (Sweden) in 2nd place.
The Italian ski team took the next three places, with Manfred Moelgg coming 3rd, 0.72 seconds behind Raich....Hosp’s winn in Aspen, with a combined time of 1:34.60, also puts her top of the standings. Tanja Poutiainen (Finland) came 2nd with a time of 1:35.79 and Kathrin Zettel (Austria) came 3rd with a time of 1:35.94. Overall and World Cup leader Marlies Schild, who was 7th after the first run, did not finish her second run.
