sunnek, Verbier would suit as two of the easier areas are currently open but your mates would have to be confident of their snow plough turns as none of the real bunny slopes are open yet.

sunnek, if you don't mind a bit of a journey I'd go to Zermatt. It has quite a bit of skiing open including the link over to Italy and some easy gentle skiing up on the glacier. It's possible by train direct from Geneva airport, but you might be too late by evening. In which case, hire a car, drive to Taesch, park up in one of the garages there and they'll taxi you up to Zermatt. Total journey time should be a little under 3 hours.
The Zermatt TO should be able to sort you out a good hotel/ski pass deal at this time of year.

So Verbier is looking good at the moment snow wise? I am in Geneva for the Escalade this weekend and want to ski on the Sunday. I was going to try Les Gets and around but I think the conditions there are sub optimal at this time so they are not open as yet. Is it worth trying Diablerets or around? Thanks muchly!

According to their web site, Avoriaz is open, although only 16% of runs are actually open.

I can't imagine that Les Gets is ever open in November, except maybe at weekends in the most exceptional circumstances. Many resorts will not open properly for a couple of weeks, regardless of how much snow they get, because they won't be expecting enough customers to make it worthwhile. I wouldn't go to Avoriaz for 16% of the runs, either.

kipmore, If you're flying from East Midlands (I seem to remember that your UK home is near to it), then Tamworth Snowdome is just down the road and I know all runs are open

Les Diablerets is worth a shot. Glacier 3000 will be open. Less than 1.5hrs by car from Geneva and similar time by train (Geneva-Aigle-Les D)

snowHeads are a friendly bunch.

Ya but Glacier 3000 is pretty sucky as it will only be the glacier part that's open I imagine.. which is all blue runs.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Apparently Courmayeur is open and in good shape

Verbier is open. medran-Ruinettes-Attelas. Lac de Vaux and La Chaux. 1.45 by car from Geneva or 2 hrs on train via Martigny to Le Chable and then walk 50metres from rail platform to bubble up to Verb.
